Again Plateau govt. relaxes curfew, announces free movement for residents

The government of Plateau State on Friday, August 9, announced that it has relaxed the 24-hour curfew imposed on the Jos-Bukuru metropolis following the violent protest in the area.

Gyang Bere, the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, disclosed this in a statement.

According to Bere, the governor has now ordered free movement between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm effective Saturday, August 10.

The state government had earlier imposed a curfew in the areas after the nationwide hunger protest turned violent with several hoodlums looting and destroying public and private properties.

However, announcing the new advisory, Bere said, ”In light of the improved security situation in the Jos-Bukuru metropolis, the Plateau Government has further relaxed the curfew, effective Saturday, Aug. 10.

”Residents are now permitted to move freely for their lawful activities between 10:00 pm and 6:00 pm daily until further notice,” he said.

He also noted that the adjustment would allow law-abiding citizens to continue their economic activities while maintaining public order,” he said.
