The Rivers State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed five commissioner nominees.
The screening was carried out by a faction of the assembly led by Speaker Victor Oko-Jumbo on Tuesday, at a plenary session held at the Auditorium Admin Block of the Rivers State Government House.
The five nominees, who were confirmed, are Mr. Ilamu Arugu, Dr. Rowland Obed Whyte, Dr. Sam Anya, Mr. Samuel Eyiba and Austin Emeka Nnadozie
During their screening, the nominees expressed their readiness to work for the progress and development of Rivers State. They promised to discharge their duties diligently and loyally serve the state government.
Leader of the House, Sokari Goodboy Sokari, urged his colleagues not to delay the confirmation, citing the nominees’ past service to the state in various capacities.
Sokari said speedy confirmations of the nominees would help fill the vacant positions in the Rivers State Executive Council.
