The sack of the Tony Okocha-led caretaker committee by the court on Tuesday, August 13, has been described as an effort in futility by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The party said the Rivers State Court lacks the power to take such as action of nullifying the sacking of the Emeka Beke-led executive of the APC in Rivers State.
According to Chibuike Ikenga, the spokesperson for the Rivers APC caretaker committee, the judgement cannot override an earlier decision of the Supreme Court.
Ikenga said the judgement by the Supreme Court is clear and justifiable and that the judge and some of his colleagues are dancing to the drums of the Rivers State government, Punch reports.
He said, “It (sack) is an effort in futility. The reason is that the Supreme Court has made pronouncements and taken decisions as to issues that pertain to the internal affairs of a political party, which are justifiable before any court.
“Therefore, what we have seen was also a choreographed judgment, in the sense that the judge and a couple of his colleagues are dancing to the tune of the Rivers State government.”
“The judgment itself is a clear indication of those coalitions you have seen from haters of President Bola Tinubu and the move to take him out of power after losing the election serially in Rivers State,” he said.
Ikenga also said that the party will appeal the recent court judgement accordingly.
