Tinubu Orders Production of Assault Rifles for Nigerian Military, Labels it BAT-1

President Bola Tinubu has given an order for the production of specialized assault rifles for the Nigerian military, dubbed BAT-1.

This move is part of the government’s efforts to enhance the country’s defense capabilities and address contemporary security challenges.

President Tinubu made the disclosure at the 60th anniversary of the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) and the inaugural Africa Defence Industries Conference in Abuja.

He was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen George Akuma.

The President noted that DICON has the potential to be a leading player in Africa’s defense industry.

He said, “Industrialisation and innovation, as we all know, are capital-intensive ventures but necessary for the growth of any nation. To this end, my administration will invest substantially in DICON to ensure it delivers on its mandate efficiently within the 2030 roadmap timeframe.

“The upgraded capabilities emerging from this strategy will significantly enhance our defence infrastructure, ensuring peace and prosperity for our nation.”

Tinubu said the newly automated production lines for various categories of ammunition, Mine Resistant Ambush Patrol Vehicles, Armoured Personnel Carrier, drones, and unmanned ground vehicles will provide the armed forces with advanced equipment tailored to contemporary challenges.

  1. what is him contribution over military salaries,or is he a Marchant, war Lord or retired military, they should tell us the meaning of,BAT 1,

  2. IMO, BAT-24 would have been a better name for the rifle just like Russian’s iconic AK-47 named after the maker and year of launching.

  3. A good move by this government…..at least $2 for single bullet will be saved and more Amo for our securities……BAT-1 thump up
Our hope must be renewed by force ….
