Two herders were shot dead, and several cows and sheep were rustled when bandits invaded a herders’ camp in Kurutu village, located in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The attack occurred on Sunday around 5 pm.
According to Shehu Aliyu, a resident of nearby Azzara village, the bandits struck when two herders attempted to resist them from taking away their livestock.
“The herders tried to protect their animals, but the bandits were armed and overpowered them, resulting in the tragic loss of lives,” Aliyu recounted.
A community leader, who preferred to remain anonymous, confirmed the incident, stating that the two herders were killed during the confrontation.
“The bandits not only took the lives of the herders but also made away with several cows and sheep, leaving the community devastated,” he told Daily Trust.
The incident has heightened concerns about the security situation in the area, with residents calling on authorities to take swift action to prevent further attacks.
