The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, on Thursday, August 22, described the killing of the District Head of Gatawa in Sokoto State, Isa Bawa, by bandits as barbaric.
Condemning the Bawa’s killing, Abbas said the kidnap and treatment of the late emir were inhumane.
Bawa was kidnapped alongside his son by some bandits on July 29, Wednesday, August 21, news filtered in that he had died in captivity after his abductors demanded N50 million as ransom.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Musa Krishi, the Speaker said, “In the first place, the bandits’ kidnap of the traditional ruler was barbaric, their treatment of the late Sarkin Gobir as inhuman.”
He also said that the continuous kidnapping for ransom across the country was unacceptable.
Abbas also condoled with the family of the late Sarkin Gobir, the Gatawa District in Sabon Birni Local Government, the people, and the government of Sokoto State over the irreparable loss.
He said, “Allah would have mercy on the soul of the late Alhaji Isa Muhammad Bawa and make Jannatul Firdaus his final abode.”
