The Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) are currently engaged in talks to prevent a looming nationwide strike.
The meeting, convened by the Minister of Education, Prof Tahir Mamman, is aimed at resolving the lingering issues between the two parties.
The meeting on Wednesday, has ASUU’s President, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, and past presidents, including Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, in attendance. Also present are representatives from the National Universities Commission and top management staff of the Federal Ministry of Education.
in the meeting, Mamman said the government is committed to enhancing security in the education system. According to him, the government will do everything necessary to keep students safe on campus.
The meeting has since gone into a closed-door session.
