2027: Muslim-Muslim Ticket Could End APC — Primate Ayodele Warns

The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) could face an abrupt collapse if President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima contest the 2027 election on the same ticket.
In a statement signed by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Ayodele warned that another Muslim–Muslim ticket would face both national and international rejection.
He described such a move as a political miscalculation that could severely damage the ruling party’s chances of retaining power.
He said: “It will be a political suicide for Tinubu and Shettima to be on the same ticket for the 2027 presidential election.
“Tinubu should see it as an end for the APC as a party because people will stand against it.
“Even Muslims and natural forces in Nigeria will go against it. Such a ticket will attract national and international struggles for the president, and this will limit the chances of the APC retaining victory in 2027.”
Ayodele further cautioned that removing Shettima from the ticket would also place the President in a difficult political position.
He added that Tinubu would face confusion and significant political cost regardless of the decision he takes.
“Also, not picking Shettima will cost Tinubu a lot; it will cost him what he doesn’t expect, and he will be confused.”
The cleric also argued that the current administration began on a flawed foundation due to its Muslim–Muslim ticket, insisting that reversing the perceived imbalance would be difficult.
According to him, the situation suggests divine disapproval of the administration, which he says may lead to further challenges for the President.
“The government is an error right from the moment they decided to do a Muslim–Muslim ticket, and it will be hard to correct.
“God has never been in support of the government, and that’s why a lot of things are happening. It will be hard for the president; only God can show him mercy,” he added.
