2027: Kwara governor drops Seriki, backs House of Assembly Speaker as successor

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has endorsed the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu as his preferred successor for the 2027 governorship election in the state.

Danladi-Salihu will contest the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary scheduled for Thursday alongside other aspirants.

The development comes after AbdulRazaq reportedly withdrew support for businessman, Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki, who had earlier been considered the governor’s preferred aspirant.

Danladi-Salihu is from Kwara north senatorial district, an area that has been angling for the governorship position in the state

The APC governorship primary in the state is expected to determine the ruling party’s candidate for the 2027 election.

Meanwhile, Governor Abdulrazaq has already won a ticket to represent Kwara Central Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate.
