A security meeting is currently underway at the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) in Abuja, chaired by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa.
POLITICS NIGERIA understands that the event is aimed at providing updates on the current security situation in the country.
In attendance are top security officials, including representatives of the Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Naval Staff, and Chief of Air Staff. Also present are the representatives of the Inspector-General of Police, Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap, and Controller-General of Nigeria Correctional Service.
Principal staff officers from Defence and Services headquarters are also attending the meeting, which is expected to address various security concerns across the country.
This meeting comes on the heels of a recent visit by the CDS, service chiefs, and the Minister of State for Defence to Sokoto State. The visit, directed by President Bola Tinubu, aimed to assess troop operations following a resurgence of banditry in the state, which resulted in the death of a traditional ruler.
The security chiefs are expected to brief the media on the outcome of their visit and the measures being taken to address security challenges in Sokoto and other parts of the country.
