Nigerian govt receives 400 deportees from UAE

In a significant repatriation effort, four hundred Nigerians have been deported from the United Arab Emirates and have arrived back in Nigeria.

The deportees, comprising 90 females and 310 males, landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

The operation was managed by the Office of the National Security Adviser in collaboration with key agencies including the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

The Nigerian Television Authority reported that the arrival was a part of an organised return plan, highlighting the roles of various stakeholders in ensuring a smooth process.

The Federal Government had previously repatriated 190 Nigerians from the UAE in July 2024, reflecting an ongoing effort to manage and support Nigerian citizens abroad facing legal and immigration challenges.

This large-scale deportation underscores ongoing international migration and repatriation dynamics, as well as the Nigerian government’s continued focus on addressing the needs of its citizens returning from abroad.
