With its mandate of maintaining internal security, the Nigeria Police Force has listed high-risk areas as the country marks the 2024 Eid-el-Maulud celebrations.
These areas include major highways, places of worship, and public gathering points.
Spokesman of the Force, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi made this known in a statement on Sunday.
According to him, with respect to this, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has tasked Command Commissioners of Police CPs and their respective Zonal Assistant Inspector Generals of Police, AIGs with robust deployment of personnel and resources to these high-risk areas.
“The Nigeria Police Force hereby reiterates its commitment to safeguarding the public and preventing crime during and after this festive period,” the statement reads.
“The IGP extends warm felicitations to the Muslim faithful, praying for a joyous and harmonious celebration and emphasizing the Force’s collaboration with other security agencies, community leaders, and stakeholders to ensure a secure and incident-free celebration across the length and breadth of the country.”
