Ganduje’s fate as APC chairman delayed as court postpones judgement

A Federal High Court in Abuja has postponed its judgment in the case challenging Dr Abdullahi Ganduje’s position as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) until September 23.

Originally scheduled for September 18, the judgment was deferred because the court decided to reschedule, as the judgment had not yet been prepared.

The North Central APC Forum, led by Saleh Zazzaga, filed the suit, arguing that Ganduje’s appointment as APC Chairman is unconstitutional.

They contend that Ganduje, from Kano State in the North West, should not hold the position as it breaches the party’s constitution, which mandates that the chairman be from the North Central zone.

The plaintiff has requested that Ganduje be restrained from acting as chairman and that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should not recognise any actions the APC took under Ganduje’s leadership since his appointment on August 3, 2023.

Justice Inyang Ekwo had initially set September 18 for the judgment after both parties presented their cases.

However, the court has now announced that the matter will be revisited on September 23, and all parties have been informed of this change.

The case, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/599/2024, involves Ganduje, the APC, and INEC as defendants.
