APC Presidential Primaries: Tinubu defeats Rival with 310,000 Votes in Kwara

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu secured a landslide victory in the All Progressives Congress presidential primary election held in Kwara State on Saturday.

Tinubu polled 310,990 votes, while his only challenger, Stanley Osifo, failed to record any vote.

The result was announced at the APC presidential primary collation centre in Ilorin by Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who served as the state collation officer for the exercise.

AbdulRazaq said 457,374 party members were registered for the primary, while 310,990 were accredited and took part in the voting process across the state.

According to him, all accredited voters cast valid votes.

“I, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Collation Officer of the 2026 APC presidential primaries for Kwara State, hereby present the result of the state as follows: Total number of registered party members, 457,374. Total number of accredited voters, 310,990. Total number of votes cast, 310,990,” he said.

“At the end of the voting exercise, the aspirants scored the following votes: Bola Ahmed Tinubu, 310,990. Stanley Osifo, nil.”

The governor subsequently declared Tinubu winner of the primary in the state, saying he met the requirements of the party’s guidelines and secured the highest number of votes.

The presidential primary concluded the APC’s series of primary elections in Kwara State, following earlier contests for the House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate and governorship tickets.

The governorship primary had earlier caused tension within the party after it was suspended midway before the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi, eventually emerged as the party’s governorship candidate.
