JUST IN: Voting Begins in Edo State Governorship Election [PHOTOS]

Voting has commenced in the gubernatorial election in Edo State.

Currently, Accreditation and voting are ongoing at Polling Unit 005, Registration Ward 05, Idumebo Primary School, Esan Central Local Government Area. It began at exactly 8:30 am.

There is also accreditation and voting in Polling Unit 002, Registration Area 2, Iguobazuwa, Ovia South East Local Government Area.

Today’s Edo governorship election is predicted to be a three-horse race between Dr Asue Ighodalo, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP; the All Progressives Congress, APC’s Senator Monday Okpebholo, both from Edo Central; and Labour Party, LP’s Mr. Olumide Akpata, from Edo South. In total, there are 17 candidates in contention for the post.

There are 2,629,025 registered voters. Edo South has 1,526,699; Edo North has 673,794; and Edo Central has 440,514.
