“Worst election in Nigeria’s history” -Ighodalo reacts as INEC collates Edo guber results

Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the Edo State governorship election, has described the ongoing election as the “worst in Nigeria’s history” due to widespread allegations of electoral irregularities.

Speaking at a live press conference organized by the Edo PDP National Campaign Council on Sunday, Ighodalo raised concerns about multiple infractions allegedly carried out by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Ighodalo pointed to several instances of manipulation, particularly in the Ikpoba/Okha area.

“In Ikpoba/Okha Ologbo, the figure for accredited voters was NIL, yet the APC was declared to have received 227 votes while the PDP received 103. How is this even possible?” he asked.

Ighodalo also cited another polling unit in the same area where “the number of accredited voters was recorded as 156, but the APC was given 2,110 votes, and the PDP received just 57, with no votes recorded for the Labour Party.”

Ighodalo and the PDP have called for an investigation into these alleged irregularities to ensure that the people’s will is respected.

With tensions running high and accusations of manipulation mounting, the outcome of the Edo governorship election is now under intense scrutiny, with many awaiting the final results.
