A former Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa has lost his mother, Hajiya Hadiza Ahmed Bawa.
Hadiza Ahmed Bawa was said to have died in Abuja on Wednesday night.
The details surrounding her demise are not clear at the time of this report, but Bawa has confirmed her death.
In a short statement, the EFCC ex-boss expressed grief at the loss and said, “Yes, it is true I lost my mother.”
He also disclosed that his late mother was survived by ten children.
According to reports, preparations are being made to transport her body to Kebbi State, where funeral rites are expected to take place later on Thursday.
Bawa became the first civilian to head the anti-graft agency after he was nominated for the position by President Muhammadu Buhari on February 16, 2021.
The Senate eventually confirmed him as the substantive chairman of the EFCC.
However, President Bola Tinubu suspended Bawa from office in July.
