Another strike action looms as ASUU accuses FG of frustrating its members

The Federal Government has been accused of frustrating the members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on many issues despite its efforts to remain law-abiding citizens of Nigeria.

This accusation levelled against the Nigerian government was made by the leadership of the ASUU.

According to Raphael Amokaha, the Zonal Coordinator for ASUU’s Nsukka Zone, the past and present administrations have decided not to pay attention to the union’s agitations.

Amokaha while speaking at a press conference in Makurdi on Wednesday, October 2, said the government has continued to frustrate the union’s efforts on issues of the renegotiation of the 2009 ASUU/FGN agreement.

He said, “ASUU-Nsukka Zone wishes to state in clear terms that if the government of the day frustrates our union into industrial action, then the government must be held solely responsible for such a crisis.

“Consequently, all appeals for an amicable resolution at that time should be directed at the government and not our union,” Amokaha noted.
