JUST IN: NEMA releases details of how 6 states will share 18,653 bags of rice

Six different states across the country would share 18,653 bags of rice, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has said.

The bags of rice have already been handed over to the six states for further distribution to victims of the recent flooding.

Donated by the Bank of Industry, NEMA said that the rice would be distributed to Imo, Benue, Plateau, Jigawa, Katsina, and Zamfara states.

According to Zubaida Umar, the director general of NEMA, the support from BOI would help the Nigerian government to tackle the impact of flooding in these states.

She said, “BOI donated about 18,779 bags of 10kg rice to NEMA.

“The rice would be shared with six (6) States to assist internally displaced persons in IDP Camps in those states,” she noted.

The beneficiary states would be dependent on the number of Internally Displaced Persons in the states.

According to the agency, Imo State will get 3,500 bags; Benue State 3,000 bags; Plateau State 1,669 bags; Jigawa State 3,000 bags; Katsina State 3,850 bags and Zamfara State 3,634 bags.

Also, 10,484 bags will be taken up from NEMA’s Kano warehouse, while 8,169 bags will be picked up from its Abuja warehouse.
