The ongoing Local Government Council elections in Benue state have been marred by the late arrival of election materials.
It was gathered that there was confusion in Makurdi where voters who expected materials were disappointed.
Across the town, as of 10 am and 1.10 pm, there was no sign of election materials.
Also in some polling units, there was no presence of electoral officers or materials.
While elections were supposed to have commenced at 8 am with accreditation and voting concurrently.
However, some voters who expressed their disappointment with the process lamented the non-arrival of material even up till 1:12 pm.
One of the voters said, “The election was supposed to commence by 8:00 am and as presiding officer, I arrived around 7:30 am and this is 1:12 pm, I am yet to receive the materials”.
Another voter said, “We visited our polling unit at the old bridge, North Bank around 9 am but we were told to come to Agan collation centre to vote and we have been here for the past two hours and we don’t understand what is happening.”
