BREAKING: Chief Judge Denies Nnamdi Kanu’s Recusal Plea, Returns File To Justice Nyako

Justice John Tsoho, the chief judge of the Federal Hugh Court Abuja has refused a request for Justice Binta Nyako to recuse herself from the case of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

The request was made by Kanu on his last appearance in court.

Kanu while speaking to journalists and associates at the court said he had lost confidence in Justice Nyako over the handling of his case.

The IPOB leader accused the judge of disregarding Supreme Court orders.

Nyako also rescued herself from the matter following an oral application from Kanu and his counsel.

However, returning the case file to Justice Nyako, the chief judge said two judges had already been refused from Kanu’s terrorism case since 2015.

Describing Nyako as the most suitable judge to handle the IPOB leaders matter, Tsoho said the judge has been on the case for the longest time.

He also stated that should the IPOB leader at his next appearance insist on recusing Justice Nyako, he must then file a written motion with an affidavit.

According to the chief judge, the affidavit would state all the grounds for requesting the recusal of Justice Nyako.

Confirming the development, Aloy Ejimakor, Kanu’s counsel, said his team are waiting for a hearing notice from the court to that effect.
