The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has officially announced the postponement of its upcoming elective congresses, which were initially slated to take place across three key dates: October 26, November 2, and November 9, 2024.
This decision was confirmed in a statement released by Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the party.
The congresses, which were scheduled to begin with the ward-level elections on October 26, followed by local government congresses on November 2, and culminating with the state congress on November 9, have been postponed indefinitely.
The postponement comes at a time when the Rivers State chapter of the APC is reportedly undergoing reorganization.
While no specific reasons for the delay were provided in the official statement, party insiders have hinted that internal preparations and the need to ensure a seamless process could be contributing factors.
The elective congresses are expected to set the tone for the party’s strategy as it looks to consolidate its position in the state ahead of future elections.
Morka assured party members and stakeholders that the new dates would be communicated promptly once they were finalized.
