JUST IN: Aisha Yesufu Loses NDC Ticket for 2027 FCT Senate Race

Aisha Yesufu has suffered a major setback in her political ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The prominent socio-political activist failed to secure the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) senatorial ticket under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Yesufu was defeated during the party’s recent primary election by Barrister Amanda Pam who emerged victorious in the keenly contested primary election.

Pam relied heavily on her deep grassroots network and long-standing party loyalty to defeat the co-founder of the “#BringBackOurGirls” and “#EndSARS” movements.

Pam previously served as the Deputy National Legal Adviser for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and was also the Mandate Secretary for the Health and Human Services Secretariat in the FCT.

Her extensive experience in party administration gave her a distinct advantage with the delegates over Yesufu, who recently switched her allegiance from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the NDC.

Yesufu had run an energetic pre-primary campaign. She toured the various area councils within the nation’s capital to win over party faithful. During her consultations, she shared detailed legislative blueprints focusing on critical sectors like security, healthcare, and education.

With this primary victory, Pam will advance as the official NDC candidate for the Abuja senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.

She is set to face a highly competitive race against the incumbent Senator, Ireti Kingibe of the PDP, and the veteran politician, Philip Aduda of the Labour Party (LP).
