BREAKING: Nigeria Police arrest major arms dealer, arrest over 1,000 suspects nationwide

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) says it has captured over 1,000 suspects across the country since October 1st, 2024.

According to police spokesman ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, the national crackdown include arrests for various crimes, including armed robbery, kidnapping, murder, illegal arms possession, and cult-related activities.

Among the arrests was a high-profile arms dealer, identified as Jubril Musa, apprehended in Plateau State.

Musa was reportedly supplying weapons to armed groups in northern Nigeria and was found with a variety of firearms, ammunition, and illegal armaments.

Additional achievements in this sweep include the recovery of 210 firearms, thousands of rounds of ammunition, and over 100 stolen vehicles, alongside the rescue of 64 kidnap victims.

“The suspect further confessed to supplying these various arms and ammunition to bandits and kidnappers operating in the state.

“The Inspector General of Police once again reassures members of the public of the Police Force’s dedication to enhancing the safety and security of the country, implementing various tactical operations, intelligence-led policing, and community engagement strategies.

“The goal of these initiatives is to establish a substantial decrease in crime rates across the country and the record of significant strides in combating several times of violent crimes such as banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, and cybercrime,” ACP Adejobi stated.
