Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has urged Nigerians to brace for a tumultuous 2025, forecasting significant economic challenges.
His statements, released through media aide Osho Oluwatosin, suggest that the year will not bring relief but rather intensified hardship, with increased taxes and tariffs expected on essential goods.
“The fact remains that from now till February, things will be harder than before. What is the government doing?” Ayodele questioned, expressing concern over the government’s inaction amid rising economic confusion.
He warned that “the Nigerian system will collapse” if corrective measures are not implemented soon.
Ayodele anticipates a spike in fuel prices and warned that the minimum wage increases will be inadequate to meet rising living costs.
“By next year, there will be an increase in electricity and telecommunication tariffs,” he added, underscoring the government’s failure to address economic issues.
He also cautioned that citizens may become increasingly frustrated, posing a threat to the safety of public officials.
“The rich will start becoming scared to move around because people will be angry,” he stated.
In light of these challenges, Primate Ayodele called for a collective prayer against potential famine, insisting that “the situation we will meet ourselves will not be palatable.”
He urged the government not to dismiss his prophecy as doom but to see it as a wake-up call for urgent action.
