Making a historic comeback as the 47th President of the United States of America – four years after serving as US 45th president, world leaders have congratulated Donald Trump on his evident victory in the country’s presidential election.
Trump, the candidate for the Republican Party led in the battle with Kamala Harris with 267 electoral votes and 70,018,993 votes (51.1%). Harris of the Democratic Party garnered 224 electoral votes and 64,913,101 votes (47.4%).
In a post on X, Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu extended his heartfelt congratulations to President Donald Trump on his re-election as the 47th President of the United States of America.
A statement by Bayo Onanuga, the presidential spokesperson said Tinubu looks forward to strengthening the ties between Nigeria and the US amid complex challenges and opportunities of the world.
The statement said, “President Tinubu believes that, given President Trump’s experience as the 45th president of the United States from 2017 to 2021, his return to the White House as the 47th president will usher in an era of earnest, beneficial, and reciprocal economic and development partnerships between Africa and the United States.”
In the same vein, the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu wrote on X: “Congratulations on history’s greatest comeback!”
He added, “Your historic return to the White House offers a new beginning for America and a powerful recommitment to the great alliance between Israel and America.”
For the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, Trump’s comeback is an opportunity to foster an already existing relationship between the two leaders.
He said on X, “Ready to work together as we did for four years. With your convictions and mine. With respect and ambition. For more peace and prosperity.”
