Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has arrived in Edo state to commission the newly expanded Stella Obasanjo Hospital, a state-of-the-art, 270-bed medical facility located on Sapele Road, Benin City.
Stella, the late wife of the former Nigerian leader, was from Iruekpen, Esan West local government area of Edo state. She died on October 23, 2005, at the age of 59.
The hospital named after the former First Lady, is equipped with cutting-edge medical technology and a comprehensive range of services aimed at addressing healthcare challenges in the region.
Features include an advanced radiology unit, a 12-station dialysis centre, a hydrotherapy pool, and specialized departments such as endoscopy, maternity, and intensive care.
Officials of the state government also say there are plans to partner with Cedar Crest Hospital to ensure adequate staffing and high-quality care that meets international standards.
