FCT Minister Wike Suspends FCDA Secretary Ahmad

In a decisive move, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has indefinitely suspended Engr. Shehu Ahmad, the Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA).

This announcement, made through the minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, confirmed that Ahmad’s suspension would take effect immediately.

The statement, released on Thursday, did not specify the reasons behind Ahmad’s suspension but emphasized the directive’s immediate nature.

“Ahmad has consequently been directed to hand over to the Director of Engineering Services in the FCDA,” Olayinka noted.

The directive is expected to shift the FCDA Executive Secretary’s day-to-day responsibilities to Engr. Ahmad’s successor until further notice.

Though no additional details were provided, the suspension reflects Wike’s recent push for greater accountability and restructuring within FCT’s administration.

This action aligns with his efforts to reshape the governance framework in Nigeria’s capital city, a stance he has publicly promoted since his appointment.

Ahmad’s suspension marks the latest in a series of leadership shifts under Wike, who has signalled a strong focus on transparency and responsiveness within the FCT.

The indefinite nature of this decision leaves the next steps unclear, as no further information has been released regarding Ahmad’s future in the agency or the specific rationale for his suspension.
