The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has vowed to review the results of the 2024 Ondo State governorship election.
Reacting after the collation of the election results and the declaration of the incumbent governor as the winner of the poll, the party said it would commence a detailed review of the activities of the election.
In a statement issued on Sunday, November 17, the PDP’s national publicity secretary, Debo Ologunagba said the party would take the necessary measures to defend Nigeria’s democracy.
Ologunagba said the review process would be conducted by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
He further described the Ondo election as the worst conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
His words, “This election witnessed widespread election merchandising, monetisation and barefaced vote buying by the APC and its apparatus in government to suppress the genuine aspiration of the people.”
He also urged Nigerians and the international community to ensure that all hands are on deck to protect Nigeria’s democracy.
