The Nigeria Police Force has notified residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of a simulation exercise set to occur today, Thursday, near the Idu Train Station.
According to the police spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, the exercise is a collaborative effort between the police and the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
The simulation exercise, which will commence at 9 am and end at 2 pm, aims to prepare security forces to respond effectively to security threats in the country.
The joint operation and training exercise on crisis response is designed to simulate response to emergencies. However, residents have been advised not to panic as the exercise will be carried out in a controlled environment with no possible danger to residents.
The police reassured residents that the exercise would involve heavy sounds of explosives, but it will be conducted in a safe and controlled manner.
The notification read, “Members of the public are hereby enjoined not to panic as the exercise, which will come with heavy sounds of explosives, will be carried out in a controlled environment with no possible danger to residents as it is aimed at simulating response to emergency situations.”
