The Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has announced the commencement of the evacuation of Nigerians from foreign countries.
In a tweet on her Twitter page on Monday morning, Mrs Dabiri-Erewa made it known that the anticipated evacuation starts this week.
POLITICS NIGERIA recalls that some Nigerians at home have agitated for the evacuation of their countrymen stranded abroad following the coronavirus pandemic.
Also, some foreign countries had begun to evacuate their citizens from Nigeria in batches, this paper reports.
Meanwhile, Mrs Dabiri-Erewa has advised that all applicants should check with the various missions for updates and protocols.
“Planned evacuation of Nigerians begins from this week. UAE. UK. USA etc All applicants should please check with the various missions for updates and protocols to abide by. May the Lord heal the world,” she wrote on Twitter.
While responding to enquiries from social media users, she noted that there are over 3000 applicants from about 75 countries.
“As the Minister of Foreign Affairs earlier said, it will be in phases. Pls get updates from the various missions. There are over 3000 applicants from about 75 countries,” Mrs Dabiri-Erewa added.
