Nigerian Police Dismiss Viral Video Linked to Oyo Schoolchildren Abduction

The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed a viral video being circulated in connection with the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State, describing the footage as misleading and false.
This was disclosed in a statement shared on the official page of the police force, which clarified that the video did not originate from Nigeria and has no link to the kidnapping incident in Oyo State.
According to the police, the footage is being circulated with false narratives capable of causing fear and spreading misinformation among the public.
“This video is unrelated to the incident and is being used to spread misinformation and cause unnecessary panic,” the statement read.
The force further stated that security agencies have intensified rescue efforts through increased intelligence gathering and operational deployments aimed at ensuring the safe return of the abducted victims.
The police also appealed to members of the public to rely on verified information and refrain from sharing unconfirmed or misleading content online.
