Join the Train of Peace — Kano Governor Sends Message to Kwankwaso

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has called on the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to put aside personal grievances and support his administration’s efforts to build a “new Kano.”
“I call on him to look at Kano, not personal interests, and come on board to join the train of peace and a new Kano that will ensure a stable and progressive state.
“When we had a programme some days ago, I looked around and saw that almost everybody was there except Kwankwaso. Even governors who had problems with their deputies reconciled on that day,” he said.
Governor Yusuf made the appeal during the annual Hawan Nassarawa ceremony on Friday, stressing that his priority is to build a united and prosperous Kano State.
The governor also praised the Emir of Kano for his counsel but maintained that he has never been intimidated.
“I have never feared anybody in my life. My humility is not cowardice but a reflection of my good nature and closeness to the people.
“When we came into office, we met things in decay. That was why we introduced several measures to correct the ills without any rancour.
“If we had met Kano in its former state, we would have taken measures against anybody who wanted to create problems. We tried to stop the killings, just like what happened two years ago; that was why we shunned the Hawan Daushe.”
He further assured the Emir that he would remain on the throne, adding that plans are underway for a durbar “that will shake the world.”
The governor also said that while 85 percent of his advisers are performing well, about 15 percent are allegedly causing internal issues within his administration.
“Be warned, we are watching. Sooner rather than later, we are coming for you, and you will see the consequences of your negative actions,” he warned.
