Emir Sanusi Speaks On Sealing Of Palace, Sends Message to Residents

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has commented on the recent blockade of his palace by security operatives.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that men of the Nigerian police, as well as the Department of State Services (DSS), blocked the emir’s palace, restricting free movement in and out of the Gidan Rumfa Palace.

The Kano State Government has condemned the action, accusing the Federal Government of responsibility, although there has been no official comment on the development by the security agencies involved.

Sources suggest the blockade may have been related to the appointment of Munir Sanusi as the new District Head of Bichi or a planned discussion with economists on controversial tax reform bills.

Meanwhile, while receiving a delegation from Bichi, the Emir emphasized the importance of peace and prayer, urging residents to remain calm and peaceful.

“This thing that happened is only a distraction,” he said. “We still don’t know why it happened, and those involved have not said the reason why they did it. However, this will not stop anything.”

The Emir assured the people of Bichi that another day would be fixed for the official instalment of their new District Head, promising a peaceful procession. He encouraged residents to inform the public to remain peaceful and prayerful, advising against participating in any attempt to breach public peace.

Sanusi also recalled his connection to Bichi and shared fond memories of spending vacations in the area, describing it as his second home. “I know nowhere more than Bichi,” he said. “I spent most of my long vacation there, and I know the people are peace-loving and educated with good religious ideology.”
