Some yet-to-be-identified gunmen on Monday, December 16, shot and killed Osita Chinedu, a lecturer at the Department of Business Administration at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka.
It was gathered that the gunmen, suspected to be car snatchers gunned down Chinedu at about 7.45 pm while he was driving along High Tension Road by Benjamin Hotel, Aroma junction in Awka on Monday.
While some sources who were at the location said the gunmen made away with the victim’s car, others said they (the criminals) dragged his body and crush it while trying to escape with their vehicle.
A resident, Charles Ife noted that traders in the area were forced to close their shop as a result of the attack.
He said, “The Young man was shot inside his car this night. The killers shot him dead in a cold blood and left without picking anything from his car.
“The lifeless body of the unidentified victim is still there,” Charles Ife stated.
Another source said, “Yes someone was shot dead along that high tension this evening. They are saying that he was a lecturer from UNIZIK, from Nteje. Please, Comrades, let’s be safe during this Yuletide. If they come for your car, surrender the car, our lives are important.”
