Following Wednesday’s tragic incident that left over 35 children dead during a Christmas fun fair in Ibadan, Oriyoni Hamzat, the chairman of Agidigbo FM has been hospitalised.
The radio station is the media partner for the children’s Christmas fun fair which was organised by the ex-queen of Ooni of Ife, Olori Naomi.
It was gathered that Hamzat was admitted in an undisclosed hospital in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital city shortly after the incident happened.
A source who pleaded anonymity said Hamzat is receiving medical attention at a local facility following shock over the tragic incident.
He said Hamzat has been unconscious from the shock of the incident since it happened.
The source said, “The chairman of Agidigbo FM, Ibadan, is currently unconscious and in an undisclosed hospital. Due to the tragic event that happened yesterday (Wednesday), he could not handle the shock and passed out.”
Meanwhile, the police have arrested Olori Naomi alongside seven other people in connection with the event that led to the death of the children in Ibadan.
Oyo police command spokesperson said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further probe and prosecution of those involved in the matter.
