Kano Governor Yusuf Issues Stern Warning to His Commissioners, Special Advisers

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has cautioned commissioners and special advisers in his administration to improve their performance or risk being removed from office.
The governor issued the warning during the Hawan Nasarawa Sallah homage in Kano, according to a statement by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Yusuf said political appointees must justify the confidence reposed in them by delivering measurable results and demonstrating commitment to good governance. He stressed that accountability and performance remain key priorities of his administration.
He urged members of the State Executive Council and other aides to redouble their efforts in achieving the government’s development objectives.
“Any appointee who fails to perform up to expectations should either improve or be ready to vacate office,” the governor said.
He added that his administration would not tolerate negligence, poor performance, lack of commitment, or disloyalty among political appointees.
However, the governor commended the Commissioner for Environment, Dahir Hashim, describing him as hardworking and innovative despite being the youngest member of the State Executive Council.
According to Yusuf, the commissioner has demonstrated creativity, dedication, and strong performance in driving government programmes and strengthening communication between the administration and the public.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to recognising and rewarding excellence in public service.
