COVID-19: Umar Audi Jauro is dead

The lawmaker representing Bayo constituency in the Borno State House of Assembly, Umar Audi Jauro, is dead.

POLITICS NIGERIA learned that the lawmaker died after a brief illness at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital in Maiduguri, the state capital, on Tuesday.

It was gathered that his sample has been taken to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to test for Coronavirus (COVID-19).

According to reports, the lawmaker was initially rejected because of a lack of bed space at the hospital, adding that the only available space was for childbirth emergency.

However, the health workers were said to have resisted his admission into the hospital but the family members prevailed upon the hospital authorities before he was attended to.

The lawmaker, however, died shortly after being admitted. His death comes barely a week after Wakil Bukar, a lawmaker representing Nganzai Constituency, died of Coronavirus.

Similarly, Kakah Hajja, the mother of the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, has died after a brief illness on Tuesday evening.

It was learned that Hajia died at her home in Maiduguri, Borno State and will be buried Wednesday morning by 8am.
