Following the ban on interstate movement, all Courts of Appeal in Nigeria have been shut indefinitely, POLITICS NIGERIA gathered.
This newspaper exclusively obtained a memo dated May 4 and signed for the president of the court of appeal by the chief registrar, Aliyu Ibrahim.
“As you might have been aware, the court of appeal have been sitting on matters that are essential, urgent and time-bound. We had anticipated that the court would be most busy with the government relaxation of the lockdown allowing staff on grade level 14 and above to resume work.
“However, with the lockdown of interstate travels by the Federal government and most of the court staff coming from surrounding states, it will be difficult for staff to come to work
“Accordingly, the court will remain closed for the period in question with effect from Monday, 4th of May, 2020”, the memo read.
