JUST IN: Passerby jailed for six months after inciting violence against FRSC officials

A Chief Magistrate Court in Jimeta, Yola, Adamawa State, presided over by His Worship Mohammed Njidda, on January 7, 2025, convicted and sentenced Mr Nuhu Isah to six months imprisonment or an option of a ₦20,000 fine for criminal intimidation of a Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) patrol team.

The incident occurred on January 5, 2025, when the defendant, while recording the FRSC patrol team on duty, intimidated the officers and incited passengers to mob them. The act disrupted the lawful activities of the team, leading to Isah’s arrest and subsequent prosecution.

In response, the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, noted the importance of highway safety and urged Nigerians to support road safety efforts rather than engage in harmful behaviours.

He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to ensuring safer roads across the country and stressed that threats against FRSC personnel would not deter them from fulfilling their duties.
