In the wake of Mudashiru Obasa’s impeachment as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, the Agege Peoples Front (APF) has reportedly initiated a comprehensive investigation into his assets within the Agege constituency.
This was revealed by a group known as Renewed Hope United Kingdom on X (formerly Twitter).
According to the group, the APF aims to compile a detailed dossier to submit to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), seeking a thorough examination of Obasa’s financial dealings and property acquisitions.
Obasa, who has represented Agege Constituency I since 2003 and served as Speaker from 2015 until his recent removal, was impeached on January 13, 2025, over allegations of gross misconduct and financial impropriety.
His tenure had been marred by controversies, including accusations of operating multiple bank accounts and unauthorized expenditures.
The APF, a local advocacy group committed to transparency and good governance, expressed concerns over Obasa’s accumulation of wealth during his time in office.
The dossier being prepared by the APF is expected to detail properties allegedly owned by Obasa, including residential and commercial real estate within Agege and its environs.
According to The Nation, Obasa’s impeachment has already attracted the attention of anti-corruption agencies.
Reports indicate that the EFCC had previously interrogated him over allegations of owning multiple bank accounts and other financial misconduct.
