BREAKING: Former Minister Expelled From APC Over Anti-Party Activities

The former minister of interior, Rauf Aregbesola has been suspended by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Aregbesola who served as the governor of Osun State for eight years was suspended by the APC over allegations of anti-party activities.

Recall that the former minister was said to have formed a faction within the party’s chapter in Osun known as, “The Osun Progressives” (TOP).

Now rebranded as the Omoluabi Caucus, the faction group of the APC in Osun was accused of being the major contributing factor to the party’s loss in the 2022 gubernatorial poll.

The party faction during a meeting on Sunday announced the decision for its members to exit the APC over a declining popularity of the party in Osun state.

Suspending the former governor, the APC in a letter said investigations found Aregbesola guilty of anti-party activities as alleged.

Titled “Allegations of Anti-Party Activities – Conveyance of State Exco Decision to You”, the APC accused the former minister of working against the party.

The letter said the decision to expel Aregbesola was taken at the end of the investigation by the disciplinary committee and its recommendations to the State Executive Committee (SEC).

“Having carefully considered the findings and recommendations of the Committee, SEC has resolved to accept the recommendation of your immediate expulsion from the All Progressives Congress, APC.

“The decision was predicated on the clear evidence of your actions, which undermined the unity and integrity of the Party in violation of the provisions of Article 21 of the APC Constitution guiding the conduct and discipline of members,”the letter stated.

It concldued by saying that with approval of his expulsion, Aregbesola ceases to be a member of the ruling APC and must not hold himself or act in any capacity as an APC member.
