Nigeria Assures World Bank Of Plans To Reduce Borrow

The government of Nigeria on Monday assured the World Bank of its plan to reduce over-dependence on foreign debts.

The Minister of Finance, Wale Edun said the nation plans to explore alternative sources of funding beyond multilateral loans for its projects and activities.

Edun while having a meeting with Zainab Ahmed, World Bank’s executive director said the Federal Government is committed to creating an environment that can help business grow.

He also said that the FG is focused on ensuring that it attracts sustainable investment and encourages the growth of the private sector.

In her reaction, Ahmed, a former finance minister for Nigeria said the World Bank is impressed with the efforts made by Nigeria with its macroeconomic policies and reforms.

She also stated that the bank is committed to supporting Nigeria in its efforts while helping the nation tale steps that would reduce borrowing.
