10,000 Niger Delta Youths Set To Receive N50,000 Monthly, Official Goves Reason

Ten thousand youth from the Niger Delta Region are set to receive a monthly payment of N50,000 from the Niger Delta Development Commission(NDDC).

The funds, the NDDC said is payment to the beneficiaries of its one-year Youth Internship Scheme for practical skills training in various organisations across the region.

According to the commission’s director for corporate affairs, Seledi Thomson-Wakama the training is aimed at maintaining sustainable youth empowerment in the Niger Delta region.

According to her, the region witnessed a successful completion of the selection of beneficiaries.

She said those selected would be placed in various organisations on a monthly stipend of N50,000.

She said, “The unprecedented response highlights our youth’s immense potential and aspirations. The Commission remains steadfast in ensuring this life-changing opportunity reaches the most deserving candidates, creating a lasting impact and paving the way for a brighter future.”

She added that to ensure that all initiatives are anchored in transparency and ethical practices, the NDDC has partnered with KPMG to enhance our corporate governance framework. 

Thomson-Wakama noted that KPMG has produced a Governance Advisory Report which would serve as a tool for implementing the commission’s transition from transaction to transformation policy.
