Oyo APC Reacts to Abduction of Ex-Minister Adelabu’s Sister, Twin Sons

The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the abduction of Mrs. Busayo Adelabu John-Paul, sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, along with her 12-year-old twin sons, describing the incident as a troubling indication of worsening insecurity in the state.

The party called on Governor Seyi Makinde to intensify collaboration with security agencies and relevant stakeholders to curb the rising cases of kidnappings and restore public confidence in Oyo State’s security system.

Mrs. John-Paul was reportedly abducted on Wednesday morning in the Elewura–Challenge area of Ibadan by unidentified gunmen.

According to reports, the attackers trailed the victims’ vehicle from their residence before intercepting it around 7:30 a.m. and whisking them away.

In a statement issued in Ibadan by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, the APC expressed concern that the latest incident adds to growing insecurity fears in the state.

The party noted that residents are already unsettled by the continued captivity of schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area, as well as two staff members of the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN) kidnapped in the Idi-Ayunre area of Oluyole Local Government Area.

The statement urged authorities at all levels to urgently review the state’s security architecture and address identified gaps to improve protection of lives and property.

It also demanded the immediate rescue of all victims, including the Oriire schoolchildren, CRIN staff, and Mrs. John-Paul and her twin sons.

The APC further called for coordinated efforts by government and security agencies to curb the rising wave of kidnappings and violent attacks in the state, warning that insecurity is becoming increasingly widespread.

The party stressed that urgent and decisive action is needed to restore safety and public confidence across Oyo State.
