Heavy gunfire in FCT as police arrest robbers, recover stolen cars, laptops, and weapons

Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have successfully arrested two suspected armed robbers following a violent gun battle during a robbery at Royal Court Estate, Jahi II, Abuja.

The incident occured at approximately 3:20 a.m. on March 27, 2025, when police officers from the Mabushi Division responded swiftly to a distress call.

Upon arrival, the suspects engaged in a fierce exchange of gunfire with the officers.

However, using superior firepower, the police were able to overpower the assailants, who attempted to flee but were injured during the gunfight.

A subsequent chase led to the arrest of the two suspects, identified as Rabiu Jubril and Ibrahim Isa, both residents of Tipper Garage, Jahi.

Police recovered a substantial cache of stolen items and weapons, including two locally-made firearms and three stolen vehicles: a black Toyota Matrix (Reg. No. NBS 348 CP), a black Toyota Venza (Reg. No. ABJ 105 AV), and a grey Lexus IS350 (Reg. No. RSH 295 CB).

In addition to the vehicles, the police also seized valuable electronics, including two MacBook Pro laptops, one Lenovo laptop, an iPad, a PS4 gaming console, a Canon IP1224 camera, and a drone camera.

The suspects are currently in police custody, and investigations are ongoing. They will be charged in court once the investigations are completed.

Commissioner of Police for FCT, CP Ajao S. Adewale, commended the officers for their bravery and professionalism.

He also urged residents to adopt proactive security measures, such as installing tracking devices in their vehicles, to aid in the recovery of stolen property.

The FCT Police Command reassured residents that the security situation is under control and vowed to continue its efforts to ensure the safety of all.
