BREAKING: I Wanted Fubara Out, Not Emergency Rule – Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said he is dissatisfied with the recent declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, stating that he had hoped for the outright removal of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Wike made the remarks during a media parley held in Abuja on Friday, where he addressed ongoing political developments in his home state as well as in the FCT and the country in general.

It can be recalled that President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers, citing growing political instability and rising security concerns. As part of the emergency measures, the president suspended Governor Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu, and all members of the state House of Assembly for six months.

To oversee governance during the interim, Tinubu appointed Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd) as the sole administrator, a move which is still being criticized by many

Speaking at the media session, Wike revealed that he had pushed for the complete removal of Fubara from office.

“As a politician, I am not happy with the declaration of Emergency Rule in Rivers state. I wanted the outright removal of the governor. But for the interest of the state, the president did the right thing to prevent anarchy in the state,” Wike said.

He added, “However, people must tell the truth. The governor was gone. He was gone, yes… so when people say the president did this, I say they should be praising him.

“Every morning, they should go to the president and ask, ‘Can we wash your feet for saving us?”

  1. Is the drunkard normal, it is high time Nigerians understand that Tinubu and Wike is the problem of River State. And raise to resist them

  2. The devil and the troubler of River State have exposed himself. The 27 law breakers whom were in the state house of assembly to represent Wike and not the people of their constituency should be recalled if River’s people want peace to reign in their state.

    1. Wike is a born dictator. for good governance such individuals should never be allowed to occupy positions of authority.

    2. Sometimes I wonder if Wike ever went to school, talk more of being a Lawyer, chei! Power corrupts! He’s power drunk now. However, no injustice done to man by man shall go unpunished, if not now, later, if not here, thereafter.

    3. I’m not Nyesom Wike’s fan but I think he has a point – the president has in a way given Governor Fubara a life line.

  3. Godfather in politics for Nigeria has been caused this circumstances problems between those duo Woke and Fubara.

  4. He is playing god, cocky and proud. It’s the beginning to an end. The dog that wants to die does not hear the hunter whistle. Pride goes before a monumental and disastrous fall. A word is enough for the wise, wike.

  5. We need to get less emotional about the realities that we can see unfolding in rivers state. Wike might be “wicked”, but I can also see clear foolishness in “Fubara”. These players clearly don’t love their people.

  6. This is simply God fatherism In action in River state, the piper call the short cannot be wholy ruled out. Since Wike footed the bill he will still be party to the on going in the State

  7. Wike ! Take life easy ooo. What else do you need in life that you have not got ?
Even if this Fubara is your biological son . U need to givehim that breathing space . Someone brought you into power too and nobody did that senseless attitude you .
    Please embrace God .

  8. But why are some people not seeing that the 27 law makers are serving Wike and not the people they represent? He just confirm it again here

  9. He is over 60 years old and still he didn’t know that pride and arrogant come’s before destruction. When he falls yakataa, his spupidity stop and his go come back.

  10. He is over 60 years old and still he didn’t know that pride and arrogant come’s before destruction. When he falls yakataa, his stupidity stop and his go come back.

  11. Wike is a good example of a dictator, very arrogant and power drunk. Unfortunately the Nigeria i know need such people to rule over them if not the military.

  12. Fubara didn’t apply wisdom in his fight with his mentor. A politician who wouldn’t want any external influence MUST be ready to build his own political structures, present himself for the election, fight for himself during primary election, finance his electioneering campaign and get the results. But Wike did all these for him! He who pays the piper, dictates the time. Ambode was even wiser and more patient than Fubara. Yet, he couldn’t survive the war he started. He lost the ticket for the second term! Lack of wisdom pushed Fubara to his present state.

  13. Who is this drunkard to have spoken this blasphemy ? Is he mad or what ? This is what President Tinubu has caused himself and this Nation that potend no longer being a democratic . President Tinubu has lost it by retaining this garrulous person in his cabinet because of only one State ,Rivers State . And as it is going both Tinubu and Wike will lose that Rivers State in 2027 !!!

  14. People are just been emotional, simple truth all the game is about( power)political control,of the state so somebody must giveway for someone to take control, very simple,Fubara knows what it means too,and for Wike he does’nt want to let go the power, not about money or something else, just the power,it means everything to politician,so you can not fault wike for doing what he know best how to do.

  15. I support you, Wike, the FCT minister, If I were you, I would do even more. And, as the saying goes in power of law, ‘Never outshine the master’.

  16. I’m not a fan of Nyesom Wike but he has a point here – the president has given governor Fubara a big life line. Rivers people should and Fubara men should thank him.

  17. People (Nigerian) don’t learn from history, what happened in then western region,is it not power tussle between Akintola & his mentor, that thrown the country into unrest.
