
Popular Nigerian comedian and actor, Okechukwu Onyegbule has been elected to ascend the throne of his ancestral home Umuihuocha Obohia Autonomous Community in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.
Onyegbule popularly known as Okey Bakassi was named as the Eze-elect of his homeland and would bear the traditional title, Eze Okwe II upon his coronation.
He will be succeeding his forebearers as a custodian of the law and traditions of the Umuihuocha Obohia Autonomous community.
His election followed careful consultation and affirmation of his integrity, achievements, and deep-rooted connection to the community.
While no date has been fixed for his coronation ceremony, the event is expected to gather notable individuals, and traditional, religious and political leaders from across the nation.
Born and raised in Imo State, the incoming monarch bagged a Bachelor’s degree in Enginering from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology.
He, however, moved into the entertainment industry where he flourished in his career as a comedian before venturing into acting, gathering fans and followers across the globe.
