JUST IN: Tight security enforced, vehicular movement restricted as Tinubu visits Anambra

The security in Anambra State has been tightened following the planned visit of President Bola Tinubu to the Southeast state.

The Police in a statement issued on Thursday, May 8, announced a partial restriction of vehicular movement as part of the measures adopted to enhance security across the state.

Superintendent of Police Tochukwu Ikenga, who is the spokesperson for the Police in Anambra State in the statement said the Force, on behalf of other security agencies seeks the collaboration of residents of the state during the president’s short visit.

Ikenga said, “The Anambra State Police Command on behalf of other security agencies seeks more cooperation of Ndi Anambra as they welcome His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria to the State today 8th May, 2025.

“Consequently, there will be a partial adjustment of vehicular movements within the state. Please bear with us,” he stated.

The police spokesperson further called on the residents of the state to remain calm during what he described as a high-profile visit to the state.

“The Command also enjoins the good people of Anambra to remain law-abiding and to continue to partner and support the Police and other security agencies in their task of making the state safe for everyone,” Ikenga appealed to Ndi Anambra.
