JUST IN: Troops invade Sambisa Forest, recover IED-making equipment, other weapons

Troops of the Nigerian Army on Thursday, May 15, invaded the Sambisa Forest – a dreaded hideout of the terrorists in Borno State.

The Nigerian Army, in a statement, said its troops of Operation Hadin Kai, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), overran the terrorists in the forest between 6 am and 12 noon.

The statement shared on the Army’s official page said the clearance raid which was aggressively targeted at the strongholds of the terrorists in Garin Malam Ali, Garin Glucose and Ukuba areas of the forest.

According to the Army, various ammunition and weapons, including Improvised Explosive Device making machines were recovered from the raid.

The institution also noted that the terrorists inhabiting the flee from the location while abandoning their arms.

“The troops successfully invaded the strongholds, forcing the insurgents to flee and abandon their arms and ammunition.

“Recovered items include various weapons and IED-making equipment. The exploitation of the Sambisa Forest is ongoing,” the Nigerian Army said.
